Security software company Kaspersky has collaborated with the National High Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU) of the Dutch police to offer users a free tool that decrypts files locked by ransomware. The NHTCU recently came upon a CoinVault server and discovered a database of decryption keys. The agency shared these keys with Kaspersky to create a tool that helps unlock users’ encrypted files and restore them to their systems.
