HBO fans, rejoice. The company has confirmed it’ll be launching a standalone streaming service in the United States next year. The decision was confirmed by HBO chief executive and chairman Richard Plepler at a Time Warner investor meeting. He highlighted the growing number of homes with broadband, but not a traditional cable or satellite TV package: “That is a large and growing opportunity that should no longer be left untapped.
