The cybersecurity industry can be romanticized as a crime-fighting cabal of protectors facing off against hackers to keep the Internet safe. In this version of the story, there are good guys and bad guys, and the good guys do everything they can to keep their adversaries at bay. Unfortunately, this is just a story. The reality is that cybersecurity is a corrupt industry that needs bad guys to stay lucrative.
