Here’s how ad-blocking apps will work on iOS 9
Apple’s upcoming iOS 9 will include support for ad-blocking apps, thanks to a new API that removes elements from Web views. Developer Chris Aljoudi is making use of the new feature in Purify, an upcoming app that blocks ads on Web pages and YouTube videos. The clip above shows Purify in action as it prevents various kinds of ads from loading in Safari on a beta version of iOS 9. Aljoudi, who is the developer behind uBlock, the popular open-source ad-blocking extension for Google Chrome, says that Purify will launch this fall. Read next: Why adblocking is the new speeding
