Torrent search engine Torrentz.eu forced offline following UK police request

With the likes of isoHunt shutting shop, and The Pirate Bay blocked by ISPs in some countries, the humble torrent has been facing a torrid time of late. And the landscape just got a little more ugly, with news that Torrentz.eu, one of the Web’s largest search engines for torrents, has had its domain name suspended. As TorrentFreak reports, the City of London Police has been working with copyright holders to “topple sites that provide or link to pirated content”, and the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has now successfully made a request to take Torrentz.eu offline.
