Facebook_featured
Facebook announced today that users can start listing their OpenPGP keys directly on their profile for enhanced email security. The ‘experimental’ feature allows end-to-end encrypted notification emails from Facebook to your email accounts. You can list your OpenPGP key on your profile whether or not you choose to switch on the encrypted messages feature. If encrypted notifications are enabled, the company will sign outbound messages with its own key. In order to manage your PGP key, you’ll have to use a desktop, but Facebook is looking into public key management on mobile devices for the future. ➤ Securing Email Communications from Facebook…

IMG_0281
We’ve seen plenty of iOS custom keyboard since the feature arrived with iOS 8 – from personalized emoji to smart calendar shortcuts and Taylor Swift lyrics. The small letters are a little bit fiddly to type with on an iPhone 5s, but otherwise it’s an enjoyable time-waster that might add something…

The NSA is no longer authorized to spy on US citizens — for now

shutterstock_160092758_NSA Spying
The US Senate failed to pass legislation extending legal authority of the country’s spy agencies — including the National Security Agency (NSA) — to collect data on American citizens’ communications on Sunday, reports Reuters. Senator Rand Paul blocked an extension of the Patriot Act in a rare Sunday meeting at the Senate. With that, the NSA is no longer authorized to collect US citizens’ newly created phone records en masse. The expiration of three key provisions of the Patriot Act also means that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) cannot invoke it to obtain wiretap orders for ‘lone wolf’ terrorism…
